About H1Bee

H1Bee provides free, transparent access to H1B visa salary data and employer sponsorship information, helping international professionals make informed career decisions.

Our Mission

The H1B visa process can be opaque and stressful. Job seekers often struggle to find reliable information about which employers sponsor visas, what salaries to expect, and what their chances of approval might be.

H1Bee was created to bring transparency to this process by making official government data accessible, searchable, and understandable. We believe that access to accurate salary and sponsorship data empowers workers to make better decisions and negotiate fair compensation.

Data Sources

Official Government Data

All data on H1Bee comes directly from the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Foreign Labor Certification (OFLC) Labor Condition Application (LCA) disclosure files.

These are public records that employers are required to file when hiring H1B workers. The data includes:

  • Employer name and location
  • Job title and SOC occupation code
  • Offered wage (hourly, weekly, monthly, or annual)
  • Work location (city and state)
  • Case status (Certified, Denied, Withdrawn)
  • Filing and decision dates

You can access the original data files directly from the DOL OFLC Performance Data page .

How We Process the Data

1. Data Collection

We download quarterly LCA disclosure files from the DOL website. Currently, our database includes 6,504,159 filings from 354,775 employers, covering FY2008-2025.

2. Wage Normalization

LCA filings report wages in different units (hourly, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or annual). We annualize all wages for consistent comparison: hourly rates are multiplied by 2,080 (40 hours x 52 weeks), weekly by 52, bi-weekly by 26, and monthly by 12.

3. Employer Matching

Companies often file LCAs under slightly different names (e.g., "Google LLC" vs "Google Inc."). We use a combination of EIN (Employer Identification Number), name similarity algorithms, and manual review to group related filings under a single canonical employer name.

4. Statistics Calculation

For each employer and year, we calculate aggregate statistics including total filings, median salary, 10th/90th percentile wages, approval rates, top job categories, and primary work locations. These pre-computed aggregates ensure fast page loads while maintaining accuracy.

Important Notes

LCAs Are Not Visa Approvals

The data shows Labor Condition Applications (LCAs), which employers file with the Department of Labor. This is a prerequisite for the H1B petition filed with USCIS, but LCA certification does not guarantee visa approval. Actual H1B approval data is not included in these disclosure files.

Offered vs. Actual Salaries

Salary figures represent the wage offered at the time of filing, not actual compensation received. Workers may receive higher salaries, bonuses, stock options, or other benefits not reflected in LCA data.

Approval Rate Calculation

Our approval rate metric is calculated as Certified / (Certified + Denied) for LCAs with a final decision. Withdrawn applications are excluded. This reflects DOL LCA certification, not USCIS H1B visa approval.

Data Updates

The Department of Labor releases updated LCA disclosure files quarterly. We typically process and publish new data within one week of each DOL release. Our current dataset covers FY2008-2025 and will be expanded as new quarterly files become available.
